It…it
happened again today at work. I think people actually noticed this
time too. I was told writing a blog can help reign in these feelings,
so uh, here we go. I’ve been doing really well the past 2 years you
know? Keeping everything under control, actually enjoying
my new job and all that. And let me tell you, I abhor office work,
but this has been…tolerable. Anyway, I’m rambling, here’s what
happened. I think it was T

The Three Little Pigs II: Lyra's Game
by Bartaugh
Chapter 2: Daily Routine
Lyra awoke.
For less than half a second the piglet told herself that the events of the previous evening had been a nightmare, though it was the sort of attempted self-delusion that was so obvious that she could not even fool herself. Even had she not awoken upon a cold, stone floor and even had she not felt a lingering soreness between her legs she still would not have been able to push away the

Kevin and Linda paddled their way across the lake, enjoying the early spring breeze. The snow had receded, the wind smelled of flowers blooming, and bird's songs filled the air. Kevin, with a mischievous grin, used his paddle to splash Linda's back. Before long, the children resorted to using their paddles as weapons in the water fight, regardless of the beauty around them. The rocking of the tussle was amplified as Kevin stood up in the small vessel.

Several weeks passed. Sheila, Linda, Jeremy, and Kevin made their way north. River, still grieving Rachel's death, had pointed the group in the direction of the nearest body of water near a human settlement before taking flight. The nights kept getting colder as they made their way north. Most of the work was done by Sheila; normally she would carry the humans on her back or in her hand when she wanted to talk privately. Winter was setting in and the the white plastic outfits the trio wore

"Linda!" cried Sheila as she started at a run, past Rachel, Jeremy, and Kevin, and towards the little girl in the palm of the dragon.
"Sheila? Oh no, what happen to you?!?" asked Linda, surprised by her caretakers appearance. River held out the girl to the oncoming orca-taur. When she was in arms reach, Sheila snatched the small girl from the dragon's hand and held Linda to her cheek in a miniature hug, mindful of the girl fragility. Linda returned the ges

"Hello River."
River held up one finger as a sign to wait, opened her mouth and pulled out the still slumbering girl, who was now starting to wake.
"You didn't eat the girl?" asked the woman rather surprised.
"I didn't eat you." responded the dragon. "Linda, this is Rachel."
"Hello Rachel." said Linda still a bit groggy. "What happened to you face?"

"Hello..." said an ominous seductive voice I guess youre my little snack...
"Who's there?" Linda asked as fear crept into her mind.
"You speak." The voice said. "They have never given me food that speaks before. It usually those weak human like beings wrapped in white, but they never speak to me, they don't even struggle. But you, human. Why would they give you to me?"
The girl was dumbfounded "I... I don't

Linda continued working on the questionnaire. It seemed to take forever. 'Why would anyone want to know this much about a person?' she thought to herself. Most of the questions seemed rather bizarre and had no relation that she could find to each other. After what seemed like the thousandth question was answered the same melodramatic voice said "Congratulations Test subject 86619Alpha3 for completing the entry level Test subject Questionnaire. Linda woke up to white. Everything was white. Sitting up didn't change anything. The room she was in was pure white all around, containing only a bed about three feet off the ground. It too was white. The girl also found that she was dressed in a white plain outfit made of some sort of thin plastic. Linda spent what seemed like hours inspecting the walls, in search of a door. If there was one, It was far too seamless to been seen of felt. Almost soundlessly a panel in front of the girl sli

Linda awoke to a strange pressure all over her body. It felt rather good for a few moments. Like a full body massage. Then it hit her, it was Sheila's tongue. The girl laughed believing that it was morning and her protector had chosen this method of waking her up. "OK, Sheila, I'm up." She said laughing. The movement only intensified and Sheila began salivating, nearly suffocating a girl. "SHEILA!" She cried coughing out some spit, now starting to panic.

Two years pass. In that time Sheila and Linda grew into a mother daughter relationship. Sheila had taken time to teach Linda how to swim, and they had developed a number of games starting with 'catch', which was inspired by Linda's fall. In addition Linda had constructed bamboo doors at the entrance of the cave to keep most of the rain out to avoid ruining her cloths, however it didn't quite block the wind and on the colder nights Linda had grown accustomed to sleeping in Sheila's maw.

The sound of thunder woke Linda up. Tossing her covers to the side she quickly climbed from her overly tall bed and scurried down the unnaturally long hallway to that last room on the right. Opening the door Linda eyes fell on her mother who was siting upright reading a book. She had long black hair, freshly tanned skin, and wore and long white night gown. Linda Immediately ran to to her mothers bed and climbed on. She took notice at what had appeared to be a large four poster bed was inst

The girl awoke from her pleasant slumber to a cool gust of morning wind. She quickly realized that the fire had burned itself out. So not wanting to simply sit in the cold cave, she trekked out to the beach to gather more firewood. Outside the day was just starting. The sun had began to creep over the horizon, there was morning bird song in the forested area, and the tide was going out. After taking a moment to soak in the scenery she began her scavenger hunt in search of dry wood. It took

The sun was setting over the ocean, and breeze was cool and crisp. The stone floor was cold, but the smell of cooking fish and the crackle of the fire attested to the presence of someone new to the island. The young girl had kindled a fire with a flint from her bag and what drift wood she found just outside the cave on the beach. As the aroma of the cocked fish grew in the relatively confined space she thought over all the events that brought her here.
She knew that she had

Sheila continued to swim. All the while she battled the urges to digest the girl within her. By the she could see her atoll when see surfaced her stomachs complaints had become loud and painful. When she got into her cave it was agony. Once Sheila got to the cave she let out a burst of speed and beached herself on the incline in the shallow water.
Inside Sheilas belly, the girl was at this point to weary to feel terrified. Having given up hope after what seemed an eternity,

Sheila gave the little girl a few moments to rest and recuperate from her near death experience. Before long the girl woke up on her own. At first she was confused. She didn't recognize the object she was laying on from the ship, but whatever it was it was very warm and slightly soft. The movement of its breath began lolling her back to sleep. Wait BREATH!? The girl suddenly panicked again as it dawned on her that it was the monster from before. Before long she realized that if she moved t

Sheila had never seen a human before, or at least not that see could recall. So she approached the human girl with a mix of curiosity and caution. Sheila soon realized that the noise the girl was making was the sound of crying, not a panicked crying, but that of hopelessness and grief.
The Ocra's heart went out to the young girl, surely the human must be exhausted from treading water for so long. She must try to help her! So she began to slowly approach the girl while trying

Not long ago there was an Orca named Sheila.
Sheila was not like most other ocras in the fact that she could speak and was rather large at an impressive 50 feet in length. She could not remember how she had gained this ability. in fact she could remember much past 5 years ago when she found herself lost in the ocean. she had lost count of how many days that she wondered the vastness aimlessly. in this time she had come across other pods of killer whales however when she attempted
