Well, arms and legs can be seen as the pectoral and pelvic fins. And boobs can make sense for a thresher shark girl because they do give live birth.

Also, that is a PERFECTLY valid reason for choosing thresher sharks as the basis for the character. It's why I choose them for my mermaid! :P
