I heard someone mention a "Gobtober" and decided to doodle a gobbofied woof. The idea's that the mass wouldn't have changed, so the bigger the woof was before, the chonkier the resulting gobgirl. Being said, I was torn on the skin colour, since the gob's insides would still be teal blue, and I wasn't sure if green would've fit, resulting in a slightly more winter gob feel.

It seems like the current group thought is that it'd be safer to travel with the kitty while searching for the prize, but I do like the mentality of attempting to befriend whatever you might run into. Okay, we look for the supplies but not too hard. A token effort to see if we can spot any signs of them along the edges of the path straying no further in then eyesight ftom the path so we don't get lost. Better to get half the reward and live then get munched on and not get anything.

Normally I would stick to my guns and say it is still to risky to go after the supplies, but if it will benefit us with more than just coin as well as the chance we can get them before running into anything, I guess we could give getting those lost supplies a try.

Getting the other set of supplies is very much a risk vs reward situation, considering you'd double your reward upon success.. but risk not only additional encounters, but the time it'd take to locate the extra supplies could end up catching the pair in the dark.
The party very much lacks nocturnal members, who are generally more capable while the sun is down. Of course, the drawback to most nocturnal races is that they're not "well behaved".

In my attempts to make an actual, proper prey character.. I have managed to work my way up to this point after many... many failed attempts. For magic, I'd say something along the lines of regeneration on top of a straight heal. Getting healed a little over time would help us avoid having to heal just to keep up quite as much. If we're using a sword for damage, then magic that keeps us up and swinging helps our chances in the long run.

Of course, I can't exactly control what people want. It's more than possible that the lack of one stat is made up for by another party member, and people could just decide to b-line for one thing to make big reward jobs more viable early on.. or full on turn Lyra into a deadly pred.
To be honest, the comments have been much more tame than I expected.. and Lyra has been pretty well recieved too. So I don't exactly feel pressured when handling her, which is a really nice feeling.
And yeah, it might be best to not discuss how to raise stats with me.. since I know all the minor bits and stuff that would be effected, without having to look it up.. and the various challenges moving on. Strength is already at a pretty good point, maybe not perfect.. but it can't be more than Double constitution without causing self damage (I will have to re-write the basic mechanics page to include that). Which, to be perfect for this area, the Con stat will have to be raised by at least one point. Which of course, to do this would soak up a fair bit of investible points for other stats. But, that decision is totally up to the comments.

The main drawback of completely B-lining Magic is being utterly useless in every other aspect. The moment something gets too close, your big artillery is simply off the table, lest you desire to blow yourself, or your companions up. A glass cannon that when it explodes, causes shrapnel to go.. everywhere.

I'd say follow through with Simple Courier Run and knock on the mechanic's door. If possible, we may want to consider stopping by the magic academy and seeing if we have any talent, and if we do, it may help turn future battles and encounters in our favor! Also, make sure we're stocked up on supplies for the journey, and perhaps invest in a bedroll and a tent if possible.

Honestly, at some point I might have to ask for small amounts of money.. but the whole idea is very stressful and I personally loathe anything that involves finances.

Technically the Old one's sword was a crutch that sped up the process by rapidly mutating Lyra's Hollowed body, She was going to recover from the status anyway, just she probably would've still been hallowed during the encounter with the Ravenous wolf.. which would've turned out much differently if she fought in that state. She might've still won using the dagger, but she would've been far more injured and would've mutated right after and probably would've immediately become a woofgirl if she still ended up as a predator and ate the tutorial boss.
Also, yes, you understood correctly. Lyra hasn't died, simply recovering from a status that is probably worse than Petrification, Zombie, Any sort of curse and of course vastly worse than poison, bleeding and paralysis. She doe not have a means of returning if she is gurgled or perishes in general, and I'd say any "entity" that is on the same level as the one that attacked Lyra can negate those bonds.. which is why even if one shows up in the story, I'll have to make it non-hostile towards her. Even if people tell her to attack it.
Also, Right now, for Lyra, the cost of entering "A Pact with a Deity", is about 10k. There are ways to lower this initial cost, as other deities may like her more, Lyra can also attempt to befriend them.. or she can carry around a relic that isn't in the state the Old One's sword is in, meaning she'd have to complete the Sword Trial (or get her hands on another relic) which she gets a temporary bond per attempt for as she'll come back if she "fails". Of course, this won't always be the case.

Mention that we only recovered as much as we did because the diety gave us the powers of the old one's sword, and show it off to the woman. Ask how we are supposed to continue recovering (i know its probably leveling, but its something the char would want to know).
As for proving we trust her, admit that you don't know if you can prove it, as you only have a day's memories, and don't know what trust and doubt feel like yet. Other than a couple of run ins with people that messed with us (shark guard and blacksmith) we don't really have a good read on people. Let alone how to show we're willing.
Also, ask her what we could do to help her have more fun with us... not being dead.
One last thing. very important. Does that mean we don't have any reformation set up? i'd been assuming we 'came back' earlier. but if we just got seriously wounded, and the 'hallowing' broke any previous ties we did have set up, then we have no way to return, and need to act accordingly.

This line in the description makes me think that this necromancer sewed her head back onto someone else's body, and now that body is trying to fight her in some way. Or, I could be misreading this.

She still has her necromancy powers she's just using all of it making sure she doesn't start rotting. A fairly understandable thing to not want to happen. In another sense she's basically a failed lich barely holding herself together.

Hang on, what she is saying doesn't add up to me. No zombie, let alone one that use to be a necromancer that can no longer use said powers, should be able to control that black stuff like that. Plus this sense of unease that Lyra felt from this woman. I'm getting a sneaking suspicion that she is a lot more than what she is letting on, I'd suggest NOT angering her and just play along for the time being, don't say something that will set her off.

What she seems to be saying isn't checking out with me entirely. no normal zombie should be capable of what she seems to be doing, controlling black stuff, sticking you to a bed like a ghost would, this is some high level stuff, even if she did use to be a necromancer, I get the feeling that she is hiding a lot more than what she seems to be letting on.

I'll say that as the moth thing is related to one of the plots I've set up around town, I won't purposefully move it to visually lock off areas. But I will say that wandering around for too long while the centre of town is crowded isn't a good idea as it was never stated that the Nightfairy in the group would remain in the crowd for as long as they are seeking help.
You have to get as many ears as you possibly can, after all. I'm considering on RNG bumping into em past this point whenever Lyra isn't inside a building, meaning I could "roll" multiple times on a single page if it got too long. Of course, this method won't actually start the Plot.

Hmm, now there's an idea! I don't know if building a resistance to the Smith's mind control would mean Lyra would be resistant to all forms of mind control, but pursuing that resistance could be benefietial to Lyra nonetheless.

And no, you can't argue that "Well if it was meant to end after the first task was completed, then it wouldn't take them much time at all!", seeing as if Lyra actually gets something at least semi-significant done and gets noticed by the guard, they'll actually get off their asses and check immediately instead of pissfarting around due to the word of some rando whom they'd never seen before.
Call it getting inspired, or actually putting some trust in her. In an RP sense, they'd be much more willing to get things done as a result. Right now, they don't even think the wolf is dead since the forest hasn't been brought back yet. It'd be like walking into a bear den when you know there's a bear in the area.

The guard also said that if someone else claimed the bounty on the same day, that Lyra would be assumed to be a liar trying to make a quick buck. It is also probably safe to assume that this would be moreso the case if said person was from the guild of official nitwits.
It's also quite likely that he lied about sending requesting to send guards to the Lab seeing as he'd actually need the Earring for that, and if he intended for Lyra to come along then he'd likely have grabbed her and taken her with him to get her set up for that.
As for sending people to confirm that the Ravenous wolf is in the area, it might not have been all that clear considering how weak it was, that wolf was considered incredibly dangerous and it had claimed several lives. They're not even going to send anyone to check on the first day to avoid word getting out, and just in case Lyra was fibbing about dealing with it and they lose an entire team of guards. Then they'll likely request the guild to send someone to confirm the kill, which no one really would want to go to avoid the risk of being eaten. Finally, they'd have to send some guards over, but by then enough time might've passed that they could assume that it moved on since and then the only ways to confirm the kill would be to find the entity bringing the forest back to life (who mind you would be avoiding people), or to head to the lab to see if they had a method of confirming the wolf's status should they had been its origin.
The whole thing was meant to be treated as an inconvenience for Lyra as she is a total stranger, and that she'd get this payment from the wolf bounty once she'd actually done something and came back.. and the reward would actually be higher if she confirmed the origin of the Tutorial boss, considering she bothered to take the earring off. I also have a reason not to immediately jump into a skip, especially one that would potentially last until "Chiri" finishes her job which I think she said could take her several weeks to a month.. just to wait for NPCs to sort things out on their own for a set up that was meant to end quickly after the first task had been completed.
Also, this is the first area.. I wouldn't instant kill someone for leaving the town and end my own interactive because people jumped straight into sub-plots without being fully prepared. But I was prepared for nothing major to happen for at least the first day. Beyond that I'll push things in a direction to get progression.

For the most part, starting out transformations are more about the abilities than the stats as there really isn't much of a difference.
Later on there'll be "advanced" races/forms which essentially have at least 1 core stat with a base of 5 or higher, and some of these will have the ability to go beyond the 10 stat cap naturally.

It depends on if the old one's sword originally had non-lethal capabilities or not, I'm somewhat unsure on where to take it at this time.. but it'll either alter the blade's restoration, do absolutely nothing in terms of growth or simply disappear at some point due to the sword needing said potential back.
The non-lethal trait is kind of similar to the fact that the sword is unbreakable, except for the fact that as it would be added to the sword.. allowing for it to also be removed if so desired. So personally it shouldn't effect the restoration of the sword as it is, but said whim could change later in the interactive depending on how things went.

A lot of people have made good suggestions already. Wait until your stomach becomes more manageable, Ask the sprite for their name and why they're eyeing our gut so hard, etc, though I had a question. Would it be impossible to restore the Old One's Sword if we give it the nonlethal enchantment. While it's definitely handy for for friendly solutions or napping live meals, are we missing out on anything by taking the sprite up on their offer?

Erf, I actually missed the deadline for posting this by about two hours, despite giving myself three days to work on a single page per week. Unfortunately my living situation had me kicked out of the place over the exact three days I had allocated for this, for long periods of time. I almost posted this without a picture as I wasn't able to draw, possibly due to my current mental and physical health. That might work, there's no harm in trying it. We could also try feeding it and make sure it's not hungry, or make some sort of makeshift collar and leash.

I'm a bit on the fence for this, I do kind of like it but it kind of clashes with my own comment. But the more I think about it in the end though it actually goes pretty well with how I kind of want to see if we can tame the wolf.
Seconded, especially the sticking our arm in the wolf to get whoever it is out part. Yea I know that's technically just a back up option.
If I can't second something and have my own suggestion then disregard my suggestion unless the next update is already being worked on then just ignore this.

Happy new years and all that, I ended up spending from 3AM to 5AM finishing the picture for this page so I apologise if it isn't that great. Some things to note is that the HP in the picture isn't updated since it takes place before the taken damage, Lyra's health is 74/100 now. Also, I actually drew her on this page starting from the sword! weirdly enough it worked out decently but please tell me how she turned out in this weird... pose... that came from this.

Another pre-Sunday post, depending on how I feel... I might try to post two pages next week in order to speed the encounter along.
This is kind of an introduction to both combat, and forced encounters. A tutoriwoof if you would. Essentially, there will be points where you can't talk your way out of an encounter... otherwise Charisma would be the ultimate be-all-end-all stat. The wolf isn't very strong, let alone durable, and it's about as fast as Lyra with it's big belly. I will...

Eh, usually I post every Sunday. But I'm trying to speed things up to get through the encounter faster.
Tbh, until Allies and Magic becomes a thing, I'm essentially going to have to throw various animals at people so that fights don't end up lasting 10 pages of wittling HP down or attempting to render the other unable to fight.

Kinda close actually. I finished my Com for new years so I've already written up the next page, it just lacks a picture, which is why I haven't posted it yet.

We are afraid and have pretty much no confidence with absolutely no combat experience.
Slide our right foot forwards a few inches followed by our left foot doing the same to get us in range, raise our hands upwards to chest height then swing downwards at the wolf as hard as we can tilting our whole body forwards until we're pretty much leaning over. Clentch our eyes shut as we swing.
Alternatively if the wolf attack us before or after we swing.
Jump backwards yelping in fear and turn our sword sideways in an attempt to block its attack even swinging it back and forth repeatedly like a bat as we continue to retreat backwards and make the creature back off. If the wolf leaps for our face tilt our head back suddenly whilst turning it away in a desperate attempt to keep the wolfs teeth away from our face.
(I'll be honest there are better actions to take then what I'm suggesting but I think this is how the character would act in this given situation.)

I was actually going to suggest a similar course of action as your first attack, though my initial comment I had typed up probably went into far to much detail. Though I would not advise stabbing into its open maw as that is a good way to feed ourself to it.
