Hey yo, just a heads up, Eka's is loading your text into the box off-center due to the file format. This means people on mobile (even in desktop mode) have to shuffle the text left and right in the box just to read it properly. Uploading the file as Word 97-03 (.doc) will fix this problem though.

Well, less about the story itself, but going off of what you said about "able to be completely removed and it wouldn't change anything":
I've also run into that self-imposed wall of "these stories are dependent on getting parts of the main story done" or something just because of small details I had. It feels a little to relatable to be honest...
There's a backlog of stories that, when I think of it retrospectively (especially when I consider that the main series, in all likelihood, won't reach the requisite point for several years), it becomes less realistic to wall up the stories I've done as separate-but-related just by including those details and references.

By the by, your works are far too underrated in my opinion.

It started as just a way to give readers some heads-up about potentially-uncomfortable content, but I started getting bored having the same tags over and over and wanted to throw in some humor. Got the initial idea from TvTropes' "arson, murder, and jaywalking" page, and now including it is practically second nature.
I do it for my own amusement, but it's nice that at least a few other people like it too :)

Also, funny thing about the character sheet; I have trouble keeping the details straight too, so I already have one! It just never occurred to me that anyone else would like to see it.

Need to redact spoilers first though, as it lists things like when and how various characters die. Some of the drama might be lost, revealing that all in a bullet-point list

Understandably, a single message would be difficult to do. No need to do so, a story can lightly touch on many topics, such as you are doing.
I agree in 2 ways: those messages you mentioned would surely be difficult to implement, and I also agree with those principles.
Yeah, in some ways you contradicted yourself because I was not clear enough. Basically, what I meant was tackling even those small problems (e.g. unexpected pregnancy) in your work and shedding insights about the topic, the bad and good and the dealing with it, through the story is a great thing, and it seems like you're already doing that. Thought provoking, giving insights/a message; I guess there's many ways to describe the same thing.
Additionally, I love to give insights whenever possible to thought-provoking writers in hopes of conversation like this. And encouraging you to do more, while contradictorily taking up more of your time in the process. I enjoyed your writings ever since I found you on DA, and I love the progress you have made.

Additionally, this is a bit of a burdenous task, but could you make a list of characters and basic descriptions document here? There are a lot of female scientist characters and I tend to mess up their baackstories (because I haven't read it in so long). It might help others as well, especially if they want to get to the meat of the story without gnawing through the first 15 or so chapters.
Or maybe, if you're hyper-organized and have tons of time, you could also include which story part a given character was introduced in.

Don't worry, I just threw in the 'evil author' comment to be funny. And, I suppose, because there is some messed-up stuff coming down the line.

I want to avoid actively pushing a singular message. You flatter me, but I'm not a good enough writer to do that without sacrificing story for rhetoric. Things should happen here because they are enjoyable or make a satisfying addition to the plot, not because they help promote my message.

Additionally, practically all of the messages I believe strongly enough to promote-
for example, that humans are sinners whose immortal souls were ransomed by the grace of the one true God, that biotechnology is a powerful tool for human advancement, that humans are the rightful masters and stewards of creation which was made to serve us, that true love can endure all things
-would be so out of place in this story that including them would actually do them a disservice.

All the same, I have indeed considered various themes within my story. There are a few that will definitely become clear by the end, though most of them are spoilers. Primarily they lean toward literary themes like romance, vengeance and justification, tragedy, acceptance of mortality vs the refusal to give up, while touching on some IRL stuff like handling an unexpected pregnancy.

I won't try pushing an ulterior agenda, but I DO want to provoke thought. That thought could be about how the story is structured and shaped, about the emotions a particular scene causes, about an IRL thing that got mentioned, or something else entirely. What readers draw from my story is in their own hands; I am merely giving them something to draw from.

I would argue that, at the very least, not ALL authors are evil. Also, making us care about characters and then having them expended is not necessarily evil in and of itself; I would argue that 'evilness' has nothing to do with writing, and that it is more a matter of how effective a writer is.
Having characters die can be used as a vehicle to cause emotion in the reader, but if trivialized, can make the story lesser that it could be otherwise. On the flip side, an excellent writer can use it to convey a theme or topic for the reader to consider.
You and I have both been developing and improving our writing over the past years, but one thing I have yet to effectively implement and one thing I think you have the capability to implement and that I would like to see in your stories is a 'theme'. Beyond vore, given that these are story/plot/quality based stories and not merely one-shots meant for pleasure (though those could have themes too), I think having an ulterior theme/message/problem for the reader to consider as a result of reading your writing is the next step towards the art form of writing. Additionally, it gives you, the author, a place to grapple with ideas or problems and provide insights to your audience about differing views.
You may have already considered this; I have already seen some potential seeds for a theme developing within the story so far.

td;dr: I think, if you haven't already planned one in the story, that you should include a theme for us to take away from your story. I can see some potential ones already developing, whether intentional or not, and I recommend further elevating your writing by including one.

That still seems illogical for the scientific community to be ignorant of them. In our own world, literally everyone over 10 years old has probably heard of Komodo 'dragons' because they are such a unique animal, yet there is just a small population isolated a few tiny islands. And now imagine real, man eating dragons five times as big and as smart as humans. They would be the most talked about and studied non-human creatures in the world. But if they did exist, they would likely have been worshipped as Gods by primitive man, and if so, the dragons would have kept them in their primitive state for centuries and mankind would have never developed weapons that could threaten them. After all, the Abrahamic God physically described in the Bible is described as an enormous creature that breathes fire from his mouth, smoke from his nostrils, had huge wings, demands daily offerings of domestic animals and occasional first born sons and Midianite virgins. And then you have all of the dragon gods of the orient, and the feather flying serpents of Mesoamerica, than those are just the tip of the iceberg. But for the sake of this story where humans are already 'modern', it would probably make more sense that such a rare and sapient creature would be internationally protected in nature reserves so even scientists aren't really allowed to disturb them unless they decide to willingly live in the human world or go there to seek medical attention with childbirth, as in this case. I would normally have passed over a story about 'Freaky Plants', but saw the 'dragon' and 'vore' tags so decided to check it out.

Thank you for the detailed commentary; I love hearing readers’ thoughts like this. As for the dragons going under the scientific radar, in the Freaky Plants ‘verse there are only a couple hundred of them worldwide, and, as Lily will mention in the next chapter, they are quite aware that humans have the numbers and weapons to wipe them out. Therefore, they keep their contact rare and personal. A good 90% of dragon-human contact consists of vanished hikers, and the remaining 10% is situations like the Waldens, where a handful of dragons are close to a small community that respects their privacy.
There will be more dragon vore from me in the future, but I warn you, it will be quite sparse in this particular series

Great story, which also led me to the Thanksgiving one which I equally enjoyed. The only weak point from a plausibility point, is how cold these huge, intelligent dragons be unknown to the scientific community when we see them being actively employed by farmers for centuries . And of course, being around for as long as humans have been around and no doubt before, they would have certainly had a major impact on human culture, probably even worshipped as gods, just as we see the legendary dragons in our real world cultures all over the world. But that said, this is still farm more realistic than the vast bulk of stories where the reader is supposed to believe humans swallowing other humans, when human anatomy dictates you can easily choke to death if you do not thoroughly chew a bit of hot dog. Thanks for sharing and hope we see more dragon stories. I think they are your best work.

I like the basic premise of it. There aren't many such stories as this where the prey isn't really willing, but is still consenting through silence and/or inaction.

It did seem a bit short, as said above. But I think that actually helped it out as a vore day snippet. It's a nice little appetizer of a tale. Not every yarn can be an epic.

But that doctor needs to be less stingy with his nurses... what's the point of hiring smart, cute girls if you won't let the boys digest them? If it were me, I'd assign a nurse to examine the gut of every horny boy that walked in. I'd consider running out of girls to be a sign of success!

You have some interesting points. Your suggestion for a funeral is not out of character for the family. I didn’t go with something like that for a couple reasons, one of them being that I handle disposal infrequently and with some delicacy.

I will say that the Waldens don’t consider their eaten kin ‘dead’ until the dragon who ate them dies, and that has not yet happened due to the creatures’ long lifespans. When/if it does happen, they would hold a memorial service for the dragon and his/her meals all together

Because the prey are family members and seem to have the same American culture as in our own real world without talking dragons, I would think they would still want of have a 'funeral' for those members of their clan who made the ultimate sacrifice. I think it would have been amusing for Mrs. Walden to explain in private with Veruna her small obligation of 'depositing' the last earthly remains of here human meals in a pre-excavated grave at their funeral at the designated moment during the ceremony, neatly done in sort of a 'cat in the litterbox' fashion. I sought this story out after reading mention of it in the equally entertaining story starring Imbriak. Thanks for sharing!

I mean, if you're iffy about it, you're not exactly obligated to toss it in. It's your show, the rest of them aren't exactly lacking because it's not there.

I don't really comment a lot, but I just wanted to say that you're one of the best writers here, especially when it comes to attention to detail. I really love what ya got going here. That's not really specific to this one, but.. Hey, had to do it somewhere I guess. I'm usually not big on the whole women eaten by animals/monsters thing, but you make it work like a champ.
Also, as far as requests and suggestions, the bit at the end of Serpentine Pleasure Cruise in Heaven is pretty top notch, I'd love for more of that kinda thing.

Interesting that you prefer the original. Well, that is exactly why I leave the old versions up!
Unfortunately for Melody, her fate is going to be exactly the same either way; this version just makes it explicit what happens to her in that clearing

Hmm, I liked the first version better, with it being much more descriptive. It also left the fate of Melody a bit more "open", if there had been any plans on adding more to the story. It's nice that you keep old versions online, that way nothing it lost.
